I don’t understand why some people will only accept a guitar if it has an instantly recognizable guitar sound. Finding ways to use the same guitar people have been using for 50 years to make sounds that no one has heard before is truly what gets me off.

Take 15-30 minutes and examine your playing style. Are you still copying those Van Halen or SRV licks? If so, it might just be time to branch out and expand your musicality.
All the most influential and recognized players have become so by being just a little bit different, original, exciting. Sure if you can play every note in Flight of the Bumblebee just like John Petrucci can, you probably are a badass. But, discovering your own creative individuality is a million times more exciting for you, and your fans.
See if you can name 3 things that distinguish your style from anyone else’s.
What’d you come up with?
