When you first visit Eric Brewer’s Myspace, your ears are delighted by the groovin’, rockin’ jams that begin to play as the page loads. You suddenly feel inspired, impressed, and just downright good to be listening to some great guitar jams that don’t make you want to shoot yourself after listening to them for more than 2 minutes.
And then you read his bio. Holy shit. He is only 22. Damn that is just simply AMAZING. Eric Brewers definitely has some chops beyond his years. His sound is a unique blend of rock, funk, blues, and probably a million other things. One thing I like about his playing is that he demonstrates a great balance of melody, technique, and tone; never overdisplaying his chops. Always playing for what the song calls for. That’s one thing I see missing a lot today. Some guitarists just shred to shred instead of playing something more soulful and simple that would make the song sound a lot better. Eric Brewer is musical AND talented AND tasteful.
Alas, Watch out for Eric Brewer in the future at guitar shows in your neighborhood and in your cd players at home. Check out his Myspace page and see what I am talking about. Leave him some love on his comments and support his music and guitar music everywhere!
