Ticking Away the Moments That Make Up a Dull Day…

You fritter and waste the hours in an off hand way
Kicking around on a piece of ground in your home town
Waiting for someone or something to show you the way

It seems this week somehow had a theme of “Time Management” to it. Funny how things just seem to manifest in certain ways. I know this week I have been stressed with what seems like just SO much to do. It’s hard to find time to play and practice guitar when all the pressures of the world seem to be attacking you all at the same time. After reading Catherine’s interview and Anek’s article this week, I realized that you can always find time somehow to do what you love, even if it is just 15 minutes.

Here’s how:

Time

The key is to maximize your time with the guitar and know that each moment with it is precious and should not be taken for granted. Hell, if Catherine can juggle writing a CD, handling two kids and networking, we all can fit in guitar time for the day.

The key to time management is to be proactive. Don’t be dictated by a spur of creativity to practice. Sure it’s great when you feel really inspired to play or have a new song idea that just popped into your head. Get down to business when you can create the time to play, especially when you have a lot of other things going on in your life.

A great post to read about productivity is “Three Basic Steps to Get your Desire with the Least Effort” from the LifeHack.org blog. My favorite is “The Law of Focused Attention.”

Well, my time is up here. Off to play some guitar!
