I’m not sure I’d consider Atkins and Segovia as “fallen” since they died at an old age. However, Jeff Healy died young. And you could add Ronnie Van Zant and Steve Gaines from Skynyrd.

But who I’d add to the list is lesser known guitarist Dave Pritchard. He played with Armored Saint before leukemia took his life around 1990. The guy could play!

Alan Murphy. He played with GO WEST and MIKE AND THE MECHANICS, among many others.

All these guys left their mark. Jimi and Wes hit me hardest when i first heard Wes with Jimmy Smith play Baby Its Cold Outside i stopped dead in my guitar playing tracks and asked myself where is this coming from? Man, its that African Thing , playing with your thumb creating rhythm inspired by a voice within that cries out SOUL!
Hendrix, no brainer . We’ll always, as rockers, go to the Hendrix “Well” of Voodoo and natural Funk.
