“A hero is an ordinary individual who finds the strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles.”
-Christopher Reeve
With tonight being the season premiere of Heroes, I am pretty pumped up. Man is this not the greatest show in the history of all shows?
It got me thinking….What makes a hero?
Can you objectify it?
How many times does it take to coerce spiders to bite you before you get super powers?
After being bitten 83 times, electrocuting myself on six different occasions, and hanging out near x ray machines any chance I get, I still do not have the ability to play guitar using solely my mind. How sweet would it be to be able to play guitar without any hands!
Anyways….
We all have a few musical heroes that have helped guide us into the musicians we are today. Fueling our passion and creativity with their unique styles and songs.
Here are a few of mine:
- Jimi Hendrix
- Andy Timmons
- Oz Noy
- Monte Montgomery
- Eric Johnson
- Jimmy Herring
- Miles Davis
- Stevie Ray Vaughan
Without these guys, who knows if I would be playing guitar or music today. Each time I listen to these outstanding individuals, I am amazed at the inspiration I find. Just wanted to express my gratitude to these guys.
Who are your guitar heroes?

Wow!
I just answered this question on the “Who’s your biggest influence on the guitar?”!!!
I think that is very important to have “heroes”. They are like aim, hard sometimes impossible to achieve, that brings inspiration and courage to keep on working!
