Effectology: Electro-Harmonix’s MUST SEE YouTube Video Channel

A lot of guitar purists preach that all you need is a guitar and an amp.  Anything else is just overindulgent and only comprises the pure tone of the guitar. I disagree with this approach.

Many of the most innovative guitarists these days have incorporated their effect pedals into their own signature sound.  Think Tom Morello, Eric Johnson, or my personal favorite effect master Oz Noy.

Sure these guys would be very excellent players without effects, but their intricate usage of delays, tremolos, wahs, fuzzes, and modulators really helps make them remarkable.

I am on the mailing list of Electro Harmonix, and recently they started a really unique YouTube video channel, highlighting their versatile pedal effect line (which I freaking love, the HOG is my personal fave of theirs).

In Electro-Harmonix’s “Effectology” series, they create a remarkable collection of sounds using just a regular guitar and EHX effect pedals.

No keyboards, samplers or midi pickups were used.   I would recommend subscribing to the Effectology YouTube Channel.

Check out this video of them recreating the synth classic, “Autobahn”

    A guitar and an amp,only?
    Really?
No need for a jack cable?

More seriously, effects are part of the natural evolution of the guitar…
Like extended range instruments,it fits the needs of nowadays musicians.

Let cavemen be cavemen, and play the way you feel.
