Just recently after putting up a joking post about Guitar Hero, I received some comments on this blog stating this:
This whole site is a scam. // Mar 22, 2008 at 11:19 pm
It is. All of these links use a click-through referral scheme, all tied to one company. The username used for referrals is ‘mrboodaddy’ – you can see it if you hold your mouse over the link, but not after you click.
Every time you click, the owner of this site makes money. Almost all of the posts on the forum are by the site owner under different usernames. The articles here are copied from other sites or hastily thrown together. There is NO substantial original content whatsoever; this guy is out to make a quick buck.
Realise that this whole was done by a single template, a few pictures and some copied text. DO NOT pay into this pathetic scheme. Expect these comments to be moderated also – most of them are by ‘mrboodaddy’ anyway.
On Guitar Hero – you can avoid all of these pitfalls unless you’re a Complete Moron who gives up guitar to be better than his friends at a video game. Guitar Hero actually STRENGTHENS your left hand finger muscles anyway – think about it, you’re using the same muscles you would with guitar. It’s great excercise and you know it’s a lot of fun to play.
Pretty weird and crazy. Who knows where or what this guy came from and why he/she is so furious about our site.
First things first,
This site is not a scam. If it was it would be the worst thought out scam ever, becasue I am not making any money off doing this unless it is from someone donating because they appreciate the site, buying some custom Fender products from our store, purchasing something through our sheet music or amazon affiliate links
, or clicking on an ad in our forum. Sadly, you don’t make much from affiliates or google adsense. Even sadder, not many have really bought anything from our custom store , nor donated to help support the site.
Well, that’s ok. Being a guitar player, I enjoy helping out the guitar community in terms of improvement, artist appreciation/awareness, and just overall building a community where everyone helps everyone out.

I am guessing this guy is talking about our affiliate links in our resource center. Mrboodaddy is the registered username we used for commision junction and clickbank, both affiliate servers. This is how affiliate links work: If a visitor clicks on the link , which then directs them to the product page, then purchases the product, the affiliate (in this case us) makes a small percentage of the transaction (can be from 8-50% depending).
We have not put up any products that we would not stand behind. Our site is about quality and obviously would not support anything that would not help your guitar improvement.

Man I wish this were true! I’d be clicking 24/7 and getting everyone I knew to follow suit too. In the forum, when people click on the ads, we do get oh say 8-25 cents per click. Man we are getting rich! We defintely would love to see our fans and followers click away every time they left the site, but frankly, those ads are in the forum just to help keep it running and try to cover server expenses.
The articles obviously aren’t all done by one person here. Most of them are by me, yes. But it is obvious to see the different registered users under the titles of the posts. Anything not by Jeff is indeed one of our members sharing their wisdom with the guitar community.
I would like to challenge anyone to find the articles that we “copy” from other sites. We pride GPZ on the fact that is original, high quality, and definitely NOT like other wrong tab infested guitar sites. We like to see ourselves as the leaders of guitar improvement and community development. The last thing we would want to do is copy and paste articles from other guitar sites.
And what about this:

I guess this guy really loves guitar hero so much that anyone even joking about how it makes you worse of a guitar player must suffer his wrath.
To end this point, I will just say this: look around our site and read the articles. If they don’t help maximize your guitar potential and get you to look at guitar through different perspectives, let me know what you would like to see on this site. In fact you should even register and contribute your own guitar and music wisdom to the site.
