What’s the Matter?

It really doesn’t matter that much.

But at the same time, it matters very much.

So you have every Metallica song memorized note for note?

You can play a single note with a vibrato so smooth it makes BB King sound like scratching nails on a chalkboard?

Awww Hell no

"Awww Hell no"

Your right hand can fingerpick faster than Chet Atkins on a hot Tuesday morning**?

Your tone has been praised in Guitar Player magazine as being sweeter than honey?

You just wrote a 12 song instrumental guitar master piece that rivals Satriani’s Surfing With the Alien?

That’s pretty damn impressive.

But it doesn’t really matter.  What’s the point?  Who really cares in the grand scheme of things?

Hopefully you do.

The important part of the quote is that at the same time, “it matters very much.”

No point in going through life thinking that nothing matters so nothing is worth doing. That never got anybody anywhere.

But if you think that nothing matters and then realize the meaning of that truth – that everything does matter, then you’re on to something.

    A fun zen paradox.

    I guess I’m on to something,then.
Funny how I can focus on one thing that matters to me…knowing that the others that don’t matter, actually matter as they’re here, whether I want it or not.
    Yeah,a fun paradox.
    Great note,Jeff.

I find it more beneficial to build on what comes natural to you. Some people have longer fingers than others which make some licks easier to exacute. Just be comfortable and confident with your own style; it will come through your playing.
